North Dakota

Dedicated October 11, 2003

The Compass on the Prairie can be seen from Highway 200 on the east side of Cooperstown, North Dakota. This Compass has two intersecting sidewalks that point N/S and E/W at the center is a fire pit.

You can see the pillars, reminiscent of Stonehenge, as you drive by. To feel the full impact of this public art you must enter the circle. Facing inward are items imbedded into the structure that are a visual history of this town.
